Applied Kinesiology

Applied Kinesiology began with Dr Goodheart, a chiropractor from Detroit Michigan in the 1960’s. Dr Goodheart recognised the principals that form AK as we know it today.

Kinesiology itself is a manual muscle based diagnostic tool. Like any tool it is only as effective s the person using it and may only be applied in conjunction with the user’s knowledge of its use and the task to which it is applied.

Manual Muscle Testing does not evaluate the power a muscle can produce; it evaluates how the nervous system controls muscle’s function. Just like a deep tendon reflex, it analyses the functional

AK is dedicated to finding and treating causes, rather than just symptoms. Looking at the triad of health – our structural, chemical and emotional health – it covers a range of different modalities to find what areas of the body are functioning (or not functioning) and what corrections of changes should be made to help restore its function.
